Illinois transitioned to the ACT as the state's federally required high school accountability assessment for English language arts, math, and science, beginning with the 2024-25 school year. The ACT will be offered during school in April and students will be automatically registered to take the test.

SAT transitioned to a digital format in March 2024.
While the NMSQT PSAT will still be administered during the school day in the fall (optional for Juniors), Illinois transitioned to administering the ACT and PreACT during the school day in April (students are automatically registered by school). Students who wish to take the SAT will need to register and take the SAT on one of the scheduled dates above. Please note, exam registration fills quickly.
