Library Media Center (LMC)
The District 128 DARING mission calls on the Community High School District 128 Library Media Centers to support students in their exploration and discovery of personal journeys toward meaningful post-secondary pursuits.
The Library Media Centers are dedicated to providing opportunities for students to become dreamers and doers, aware, inquisitive, resilient and healthy, nimble, and global.

7:45 a.m. - 4:15 p.m.

Accessing News
Read The Wall Street Journal newspaper with no login or article limits
- You will see Vernon Hills High School at the top right corner.
- Access is ONLY while physically in the VHHS building.

Databases
A database is a collection of articles, documents, images, videos, etc. made available to students through a paid school subscription. This same content is not available free via an internet search.
Login with your school Google account to search the LMC databases from home or school.
Illinois now offers all state residents access to 51 FREE databases.
New databases that may be very helpful to students:
- LearningExpress test prep -- take SAT, ACT, or AP practice tests, learn study skills, investigate career choices
- NoveList -- helps answer the question "What do I read next?"
- Auto Repair Source -- choose make/model of your car for repair instructions and parts

Book Genres
Our Fiction section is arranged by genre, or type of book.
Each genre has a color theme, as shown on a colored sticker on the spine of each book as well as the matching bookends.
Genre, along with the first 3 letters of the author's last name, is shown as CALL NUMBER in Follett Destiny library catalog.
What's the difference?
- Fantasy - fictional world, magic, wizards
- Science fiction - space, time travel, dystopia, clones
- Supernatural - ghosts, werewolves, witches, vampires, special powers

- Search for a book or look at the featured collections.
- Sora also lets you access titles from Cook Memorial Public Library, which includes the Aspen Drive branch
