English

The aims of the English Department and our District DARING mission have many similarities:
- Dreamers and Doers - students will read, explore new worlds, and discuss new ideas
- Aware - students research and write essays to understand the varied experiences and realities of others
- Resilient - students will build confidence through challenging reading, writing, speaking, and listening coursework
- Inquisitive - students are encouraged to think creatively and solve problems
- Nimble - students are expressing themselves multimodally by giving presentations, working in small groups, and creating various media
- Global - students build relationships, communicate effectively, and seek to understand others
English Tutors
Community High School District 128 is committed to supporting our students' academic and fine art success. We understand that there are times when families seek additional instructional support beyond the classroom.
To assist you in this process, we maintain a list of private tutors who have expressed interest in working with our students. We provide this list strictly as a voluntary resource and convenience for our families. The list should not be taken as an endorsement of private tutors in general, or of any specific tutor who has requested to be added to our list.
Please be advised of the following regarding these private tutoring services:
- Employment Status: The individuals on this list are not employees or agents of District 128. They function entirely as independent contractors, are not supervised by District 128, and are not subject to the same policies and conduct expectations that apply to District 128 employees.
- Oversight: The District makes no representations regarding their credentials, character, or the quality of their instruction. Each family is responsible for exercising their own judgment as to whether to engage any particular private tutor.
- Risks: The parent/guardian assumes all risks associated with hiring a private tutor, including but not limited to physical safety during tutoring sessions (whether held in person or online).
- Contractual Agreement: Any tutoring arrangement, including scheduling, location of services, and payment, is a private agreement between the parent/guardian and the tutor. The District is not a party to these transactions.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, the parent/guardian agrees to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Community High School District 128, its Board of Education, employees, and agents from any and all claims, demands, losses, liability, or causes of action arising out of or in any way connected with the use of a private tutor from this list.
