2010 IHSA Solo and Ensemble Contest

Congratulations to all who performed this past Saturday at the State Solo and Ensemble Contest! Vernon Hills High School earned 669 points. The most ever for our school after this event.

2010 IHSA Organizational Contest

Congratulations to all the performing groups: Wind Ensemble, Symphonic Band, Freshman Band, Treble Choir, Chamber Choir, Concert Choir, Cougar Choir, and the Concert Orchestra for receiving Division I ratings!

VHHS Orchestra Performed at the 2009 Midwest International Band and Orchestra Clinic

The VHHS Symphony Orchestra was one of 10 orchestras from around the world invited to perform at the Midwest Clinic this past December. One of the many highlights of this trip was a clinic by composer Frank Ticheli on the 3rd movement of Symphony No. 1, the Profanation.

VHHS Wind Ensemble Performed at Superstate

The VHHS Wind Ensemble performed at the Superstate Concert Band Festival sponsored by the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign on Saturday, May 8, 10:30 AM. This was the Wind Ensemble's 8th consecutive appearance at this festival. The group was the Honor Band for the 2010 Festival. This year the group performed Molly on the Shore by Percy Grainger and Bells for Stokowski by Michael Daugherty.

2010 IMEA ALL-STATE STUDENTS

Vernon Hills High School had 13 students selected to perform at the 2010 All-State Festival in Peoria, IL.

Chorus: John Papandrea, Cole Moffat, Emily Paul, and Luke Hanson.

Strings: Joe Ho, Lisa Chertok, Jason Song

Band: Eddie Rumzis, Laura Brooks, Michael Wagner, Andrew Welter, Danny Park, Mitch Evett

2009 State Champions
